Alaska LNG Project Has Productive Year

The Alaska LNG Project has reached further steps than any other of it’s kind and if built will be the largest LNG facility in the U.S.

Steve Butt with the project detailed the three most recent accomplishments.

Butt: “A lot of work on the regulatory process: getting the export permits progressed, getting the environmental permits progressed; as well at the design work: really understanding sizing on the GTP, siting on the LNG plan and on the pipeline route way. And then I think the third thing I think we’ve really done is we’ve built a strong team, we built a team that know’s how to build big projects, we can move issues forward.”

The top 25 leaders of that team have over 800 years experience combined and each member has also worked on one of the large LNG projects built in the last 15 years in the U.S. according to Butt.

He also gave a preview of things to come.

Butt: “Keep progressing the regulatory work, we have to finish the resource report so we can advance the environmental impact statements, I’d say that we also have a lot of work on the commercial and fiscal uncertainty, work with the legislature and administration on those things that Senator Micciche mentioned to make sure that those uncertainties are addressed. And then we really have to test cost and schedule to evaluate the FEED commitment. We spent hundreds of millions of dollars to date figuring out how to get these permits and how to build this thing, the next step is in excess of a billion dollars and that only gives you the right to spend $45-65 billion.”
