It has been months since there’s been any new information on the Alaska LNG project but that doesn’t mean it’s on hold.
Kenai Peninsula Borough Oil and Gas Assistant Larry Persily says he knows people are wondering if the project will go anywhere, but at this point the borough has no new information about that.
The draft resource reports were originally slated to be submitted to federal regulators this spring but that timeline was pushed to this summer.
At this time, Persily says the project’s summer field work is underway, with crews conducting aquifer testing in Nikiski, conducting bore hole tests both on and off shore, and purchasing properties.
Crews have also been demolishing properties that have been purchased in the areas in order to eliminate the opportunity for criminals to target the vacant residences.
