The planning effort for the 2045 AMHS Long-Range Plan (LRP), which will envision the system 20 years into the future, is underway. Recommendations and input from the customers and communities AMHS serves, as well as others who use, plan, and fund this system are vitally important to the success of the plan.

In a press release, the AMHS shared the LRP, which sets out to guide their future operating and capital investments of AMHS services, fleet, and terminal infrastructure. The work on the development of the LRP is in the early stages and will continue through the second quarter of 2024. Key tasks include:

  • Review existing planning initiatives and inputs.
  • Highlight existing and future opportunities for engagement.
  • Identify future service scenarios for AMHS served communities.
  • Identify the supporting workforce and infrastructure needs to implement scenarios.
  • Outline a capital replacement plan for our fleet and shore-side facilities.
  • Offer recommendations for future resiliency and sustainability efforts.

To learn more about the Long-Range Plan and its progress, the AMHS requests members of the public consider attending their upcoming Public Open House, scheduled for October 24th at 5:30 PM .

In the press release, AMHS said they are excited to share their progress and goals, and hope to gain some insight into communities.
