Alaska’s minimum wage will increase to $13.00 per hour on July 1, 2025, following the passage of Ballot Measure 1 in the November 2024 election.

This marks the first in a series of planned increases. The wage will rise again to $14.00 in July 2026 and to $15.00 in July 2027. Beginning January 1, 2028, the state’s minimum wage will be adjusted annually for inflation.

The new rate applies to all hours worked in a pay period, regardless of whether an employee is paid hourly, by commission, by piece, or on another basis. Employers must ensure that total compensation meets or exceeds the minimum wage for all hours worked unless a specific exemption applies.

The wage hike also affects salaried employees who are exempt from minimum wage and overtime requirements under Alaska law. Effective July 1, 2025, the minimum weekly salary for exempt executive, administrative, and professional employees will increase from $952.80 to $1,040.
