Alaska Records Highest Daily COVID-19 Case Count Wednesday – 1,251 Cases & 1 New Death

Alaska reports a new daily high of 1,251 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, including 1 death and 200 hospitalizations. The death was that of a male Anchorage resident who was 80 years or older.

 

The daily case count number includes 1,224 resident cases and 27 nonresident cases. Across the Kenai Peninsula, there were 16 cases reported in Kenai, 14 in Soldotna, 12 in Homer, 5 in Seward, 2 in Anchor Point, 2 in Nikiski, and 1 in Sterling. In addition, there was 1 nonresident case reported in Kenai.

 

There have been a total of 2,276 resident hospitalizations and 466 deaths. On Tuesday there were 39 new resident hospitalizations and one new Alaska resident death reported. There are currently 200 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who are hospitalized and 13 additional patients who are considered persons under investigation (PUI) for a total of 213 current COVID-related hospitalizations. Thirty-four of these patients are on ventilators. The percentage of patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 is 17.8%.

 

 

The current statewide alert level – based on the reported number of cases per 100,000 people over the past 7 days – is high (red) at 823.8. For boroughs and census areas: 24 areas are at the high alert level, including the Kenai Peninsula Region.

 

62.6% of Alaskans aged 12 and older have received at least their first vaccine dose. 58% of Alaskans aged 12 and older have been fully vaccinated. 48.6% of the Kenai Peninsula Region are considered fully vaccinated.
