The Alaska Redistricting Board published its 2021 Final Redistricting Map for Alaska. During a public hearing on November 5, the board adopted a final redistricting map for the coming decade.

Rep. Ron Gilham’s District 30 becomes House District 7 and remains largely unchanged representing the greater Kenai/Soldotna area.

Rep. Ben Carpenter’s District 29 changes to House District 8, which includes Nikiski and Sterling to Hope and Moose Pass.

Carpenter’s district previously included Seward, which now goes to District 5 (previously District 32), represented by Louise Stutes. Her district includes Kodiak, Seward, Cordova and surrounding areas.

Lastly, Rep. Sarah Vance’s District 31 includes the regions of Kalifornsky south to Homer and Seldovia and the western half of Kachemak Bay State Park. District 31 changes to District 6.

The only part of the Kenai Peninsula not to be represented by a Kenai Peninsula representative is Nanwalek and Port Graham, which goes to Rep. Bryce Edgemon’s District 37. Click here for an interactive version of the District Map.

The Redistricting Board also made a decision on the Senate districts that will have to run in 2022. 19 of Alaska’s 20 state senators will have to run for re-election. The only district that won’t is Senate District T – Northwest Arctic/North Slope. District O – Kenai/Soldotna/Nikiski, currently held by Sen. Peter Micciche, will transition to Senate District D. The Senate Term Allocation Table shows his constituency changed about 5% from the previous District O to match the population change. His seat will be up for election in 2022. The other Kenai Peninsula Senator, Gary Stevens, who represents District P – Kodiak, Homer, will transition to Senate District C. His constituency changed 7.5% and will be up for election in 2022.
