Alaska is dealing with over one-thousand new coronavirus cases in the data report on Monday from Friday through Sunday. The state Department of Health and Social Services reported 1,110 new cases along with 1,050 resident cases.
Across the Kenai Peninsula, Homer 31, Soldotna 31, Kenai 30, Anchor Point 13, Seward 7, Sterling 5, Kenai Peninsula Borough North 3, Kenai Peninsula Borough South 3 and Nikiski 2. Additionally, there were 60 nonresident cases, including 2 in Seward, 1 in Homer and 1 in Soldotna.
There have been a total of 1,924 resident hospitalizations and 406 deaths, with 15 new hospitalizations and no new deaths reported over the last three days. Currently, there are 126 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who are hospitalized and four additional patients under investigation for a total of 130 current COVID-related hospitalizations. 27 are currently on ventilators. 11.5% of patients are currently hospitalized with COVID-19.
The current statewide alert level – based on the reported number of cases per 100,000 people over the past 7 days – is high (red) at 436.3. For boroughs and census areas: 26 areas are at the high alert level, including the Kenai Peninsula Borough.
59.9% of Alaskans 12 and older have received their first vaccine dose. 53.8% of Alaskans 12 and older have been fully vaccinated. 45.7% of the Kenai Peninsula Region is considered fully vaccinated.
