Alaska Reports 2,148 Cases And 2 New Deaths In COVID Holiday Weekend Numbers Update

Alaska reported over two-thousand new COVID-19 cases in the weekend data update on Tuesday from Friday to Monday. There were two new deaths, 186 hospitalizations and 2,148 new cases of COVID-19 tabulated in the report released from the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services.

 

Across the Kenai Peninsula, Kenai reported 89 cases, Soldotna 56, Homer 42, Sterling 15, Kenai Peninsula Borough North 14, Seward 13, Kenai Peninsula Borough South 8, Nikiski 7, and Anchor Point 5. There were 89 new nonresident cases identified, including 1 in Soldotna, 3 in Seward, 2 in Kenai, 1 in Homer and 1 in Kenai Peninsula Borough South.

 

Over the past four days, there were 17 new resident hospitalizations and two Alaska resident deaths reported. The deaths were that of a male Fairbanks North Star Borough Resident in his 50s and a female Kusilvak Census Area resident in her 60s.

 

 

The current statewide alert level – based on the reported number of cases per 100,000 people over the past 7 days – is high (red) at 558.0. For boroughs and census areas: 27 areas are at the high alert level, including the Kenai Peninsula Borough.

 

61.3% of Alaskans aged 12 and older have received at least their first vaccine dose. 55.7% of Alaskans aged 12 and older have been fully vaccinated. 47.2% of the Kenai Peninsula Region are considered fully vaccinated.
