The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported no new positive COVID-19 cases in their Tuesday update. That leaves the total positive case count in the state at 399.

The number of active cases in the state is 41. The active case count has not been at 50 or higher since May 5.

The Alaska Department of Corrections (DOC) also announced Tuesday a positive case in an inmate at the Anchorage Correctional Complex. DHSS’ Section of Epidemiology and Division of Public Health Nursing will work closely with DOC on the investigation and contact tracing. The case will be included in tomorrow’s case count for May 19.

The total number of recovered patients, as of Tuesday’s update, stands at 348, including three new recovered cases recorded yesterday.

The total number of tests conducted in the state thus far is 36,380‬. This means that no new positive results were found despite an increase of ‬688 tests from yesterday. A total of 1,923 tests have been conducted in the Kenai Peninsula Borough, an increase of 16.

These cases are reported using the state’s timetable of reporting counts: 12:00 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on May 18.  A reported positive case on Tuesday out of the Anchorage Correctional Complex will likely be included in Wednesday’s state count, because of this timetable.
