Alaska Reports One New COVID-19 Death And 863 New Cases In Monday’s Weekend Update

Alaska is reporting one new coronavirus death along with over 800 new cases of the virus in the Monday update from over this past weekend.  The state Department of Health and Social Services reported the death of an Anchorage man in his 30s yesterday, raising Alaska’s death toll from the pandemic to 391 residents.

 

The health department also reported 863 new cases of COVID-19, including 826 resident cases.  Across the Kenai Peninsula, Homer reported 25 cases, Kenai 23, Soldotna 15, Kenai Peninsula Borough South 8, Anchor Point 5, Kenai Peninsula Borough North 5, Seward 2, Nikiski 1 and Sterling 1. Alaska also reported 37 nonresident cases including 5 in Soldotna, 1 in Homer, 1 in Kenai, and 1 in Kenai Peninsula Borough South.

 

The current statewide alert level – based on the reported number of cases per 100,000 people over the past 7 days – is high at 286.2. 22 areas of the state are at the high alert level.

 

58.5% Of Alaskans age 12 and older have received at least their first vaccine dose. 52.8% of Alaskans 12 and older have been fully vaccinated. 44.9% of the Kenai Peninsula Region are considered fully vaccinated.
