The Alaska Tech Learners Program, through the KPBSD Career and Technical Education program, delivered the district’s first mobile CTE lab to Razdolna School. The portable welding connex lab consists of four welding stations and will be fully functional when connected to electrical hookups.
The Alaska Tech Learners Program offers CTE, career technical education, through the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District with high school students involved in construction classes such as shed and greenhouse building teaching all aspects of framing, wiring, roofing and more. ATL programs also include: data processing, web design, computer sciences. CTE classes help reinforce math skills and employability through group work, task completion and time management.
CTE courses are currently chosen by each school based on their staff qualifications and student interest. As part of the district strategic plan KPBSD will be working to expand pathway options and programs.
Students within the KPBSD can contact building administrators for details and to express interest in programs.
ATL courses are free to students and teachers (paid by scholarship after the second week of the course) and count towards UAA’s Web Engineering OEC program.
Classes are offered through Prince William Sound College (Valdez).
