Alaskan Republican Party Allows Rubio to Keep Five Delegates

The Alaska Republican Party has decided to allow Marco Rubio to keep the five delegates he garnered on Super Tuesday rather than split them up between Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.

On March 17 the party announced it had reassigned Rubio’s delegates because he suspended his campaign.

ARP party chairman Peter Goldberg said Monday that the Florida Senator requested to retain the delegates he won on March 1, at least through the first nominating ballot of the national convention this summer.

The Republican National Committee told party spokeswoman Suzanne Downing that the decision rested with the Alaska Republican party.

So Alaska will have 28 delegates: Texas Senator Ted Cruz won the preference poll and was awarded 12, runner-up Donald Trump has 11, and Rubio has his five once again.
