Alaskans no longer need to mail, email, or fax in their absentee ballot applications. In a release issued on Wednesday, the Division of Elections announced that the state has opened up an online application process.
The Online Absentee Ballot Application System is available on the state’s website. It aims to make absentee ballots more accessible, faster, and all-around easier to utilize.
Voters only need to apply for one application to receive an absentee ballot for all elections in the year. A valid form of Alaska state identification is required to apply online, and residents without current identification documents must apply using the traditional paper application.
Applications will be reviewed by the Division of Elections and, once cleared, the division will schedule sending out the ballot to the voter.
