Many Alaskans have been affected financially by the various hacks that have happened this year.

We spoke with First National Bank’s Lyn Whitley about tips to prevent fraud.

Whitley: “In today’s environment everyone should be paying careful attention to their account, it’s very important to carefully monitor your bank and your credit card accounts, and if you do this online you’re able to detect any abnormalities very quickly, the most important thing when you notice this is to report them immediately to your financial institution.”

One in particular which impacted many Alaskans was the Home Depot security breach which was identified in September as the largest cyber attack ever.
