Alaska’s polling locations will open at 7:00 am, where state residents will have the opportunity to weigh-in on ballot measures, state and U.S. Representatives, judges, and the next U.S. President.

Alaska Division of Elections Director Josie Bahnke says this year some absentee and early votes are being included in the election result updates on election night.

Bahnke: “Typically between 9:00 – 9:30 pm we’ll be doing our first upload. But just keep that in mind we’ll be including those numbers on election night, which is something I don’t believe has happened in the past several years. We will be updating approximately every 15 to 20 minutes.”

By Monday afternoon almost 32,000 Alaskans had cast their ballots early. That surpasses both prior elections by almost 10,000 votes, with 19,937 Alaskans voting early in 2012 and 22,200 early votes in 2014.

Early voting is finished but registered voters can find their polling location by visiting the Division of Election’s website, www.elections.alaska.gov. Polls across Alaska will be open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.
