Allie Ostrander Races To Course Record At Wisconsin Invitational

MADISON, Wisconsin–Boise State true freshman Allie Ostrander won the women’s 6-kilometer race this morning at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational to lead the Bronco women’s cross country team to a sixth-place finish.  Ostrander broke the course record by 12 seconds.

Ostrander (Kenai Central  2015 graduate) was amongst the leaders throughout the race, and sprinted to the finish line to capture first with a time of 19:19.5.  Notre Dame senior Molly Seidel was right behind Ostrander with a time of 19:22.4, while Arkansas senior Dominique Scott was third (19:32.5).

Ostrander beat two NCAA champions and shattered the course record held by seven-time NCAA champion Abbey D’Agostino, who ran for Dartmouth and turned pro in 2014.

She completed the 6-kilometer race in 19 minutes, 19 seconds, to shave 12 seconds off D’Agostino’s record, set in 2013.

“I didn’t expect this at all,” Ostrander said in a press release from Boise State.

By the 4-kilometer mark, Ostrander was in the lead pack with two NCAA champions, Molly Seidel of Notre Dame, the reigning NCAA 10,000 track champion, and Dominique Scott of Arkansas, a three-time NCAA champ.

Twenty of the Top 25 women’s teams raced in the event, making the Wisconsin Invitational an excellent preview of the NCAA National Championships.

Next up for the Boise State cross country teams are the Mountain West Championships in two weeks, followed by the NCAA Regionals on November 13th and the NCAA Nationals on November 24.
