Allie Ostrander Races to Milrose Games 3000M Victory

Allie Ostrander sprinted to her first professional victory on the indoor track in the prestigious, Melrose Games in New York City on Saturday, sprinting to the lead in the final 200M for the win in the Women’s 3000M run at The Armory.

 

Allie Ostrander, running under the Brooks Beasts professional track team, started back in the pack in the 11-runner field; moved up each lap and raced past Julie-Anne Staehli of Canada in the final 15 meters.  With the late surge, Ostrander finished with a personal-best time of 8 minutes, 48.94 and raced the final 1,000 meters in 2:50.92.

 

Ostrander’s previous top professional finish came at the U.S. national championships last summer with a a fourth-place in the women’s 3000M steeplechase.  Ostrander also competed in the World Championships in Doha, Qatar.

 

The Millrose serves as a last chance to tune-up before the USATF Indoor Track Championships next week in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Also on the track horizon are the USATF Outdoor Championships which serve as the US Olympic Trials, scheduled for late June in Eugene, Oregon.
