Alli Ostrander returned to competitive road racing with a run-away victory in the 44th Freihofer’s Run for Women on Saturday in Albany, New York.
Ostrander, 25, won the 5-kilometer race in 15 minutes and 48 seconds, a full 27 seconds ahead of a field including more than 1,900 women.
According to the Albany Times Union, Ostrander stated, “The race went really well. I was so nervous beforehand because I haven’t raced in almost a year. Work has been going really well, but you never know until you put it out there and see what you can do in a race.”
Ostrander earned the first place prize of $3,000.
Ostrander is in New York to serve as a pacesetter at the Trials of Miles Track Night in New York City.
