An Anchor Point man was arrested on Monday for firing shots into a reproductive health clinic in Homer in October and again in November.
According to the Homer Police Department, 30-year-old Josiah Kelly of Anchor Point was arrested on Monday afternoon, Nov. 11.
Kelly’s arrest follows reports received by the Homer Police Department received a call on Saturday, Oct. 19, from a man who stated that shots had been fired into the Recovery Center building at 111 West Pioneer Ave. Then, around a month later, HPD received additional citizen reports that they had heard the sounds of several shots fired in the vicinity of Nielson Circle in Homer on Monday, shortly before 6:00 p.m.
Later on Monday, shortly before 1:00 p.m., Homer Police received a report that the Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic building had been shot numerous times.
At 6:50 pm, the shooter returned to the area and fired more rounds into the clinic.
Officers responded and were able to locate and stop the vehicle that had reportedly fled the scene.
Kelly was arrested on two counts of Misconduct Involving Weapons in the second degree, two counts of Misconduct Involving Weapons in the third degree, and Criminal Mischief in the third degree.
Kelly confessed to all three shootings. Additional charges may be filed in this case.
