Anchorage Man Indicted for Nikiski Guns Theft Case

Michael Stanford of Anchorage was indicted Monday on ten charges of alleged theft and burglary at a woman’s Nikiski residence in November.

 

As we previously reported, after a November 22 burglary on Emerald St in Nikiski Jennifer Colton posted pictures on Facebook of the six guns that were taken, asking her friends to help track down the thief. According Facebook, the guns were: an older Winchester 243, Colt AR-15 with a custom paint jobs, Colt AR-15 Pre-Brady Bill, Norinco 12g shotgun, Uberti 45-long Colt navy replica, and a Herters 357.

 

Alaska State Trooper were contacted by a man who had purchased guns from Stanford and then saw the Facebook post.

 

The following day Troopers made an arrest and were able to recover the guns, a welder and power tools. 38-year-old Michael Stanford was charged with theft, burglary, and criminal trespass and held with no bail.

 

Stanford, 38, was arraigned in Kenai Superior Court Tuesday on charges of burglary in the first degree, burglary in the second degree, and eight counts of theft in the second degree.
