This morning in Anchorage around 1 am calls began to flood in reporting sounds of glass smashing and broken vehicle windows eventually totaling over 50 vehicles vandalized.
Jennifer Castro with Anchorage Police Department said three suspects were arrested this morning but they are looking for more involved.
Castro: “We were definitely looking at the possibility of there being other suspects involved because of how many incidents there were and the area that was covered in such a short time frame.”
APD first responded to South Anchorage to find multiple cars damaged but soon received more reports from Fairview and found 25 more cars vandalized.
Reports continued to come in from three additional areas of Anchorage throughout the morning.
Castro said thanks to fast community member reports they were able to arrest one group of suspects which included a minor.
Castro: “From what we understand in our initial investigation that this is just a random act where these young adults decided they wanted to go do something and did it. Not really a specific target or motive.”
