Anchorage Residents Accused Of Delivering Contraband To Correctional Center In Seward

Alaska State Troopers out of Seward conducted a traffic stop on the Seward Highway in Moose Pass earlier this month. Authorities stopped a driver identified as 24-year-old Netta A. Veal of Anchorage and the passenger was identified as 26-year-old Kylee E. Barker of Anchorage.

 

An investigation revealed that Veal was driving under the influence of drugs, according to the online trooper dispatch. Additionally, both Veal and Barker smuggled suboxone into Spring Creek Correctional Center. Veal was accused of smuggling suboxone to Dewayne M. Kirkwood inside the correctional center, while Barker delivered the substance to 21-year-old Elteyvionne Z. Carlton inside the correctional center.

 

Veal was placed under arrest for DUI, felony misconduct involving controlled substances, and felony promoting contraband. Barker was placed under arrest for felony misconduct involving controlled substances and felony promoting contraband.

 

Charges are being forwarded to the District Attorney for felony promoting contraband, felony tampering with physical evidence, and misdemeanor misconduct involving controlled substances against both Carlton and Kirkwood.

 

Barker and Veal were transported to the Seward City Jail where they were remanded without bail.
