Going once, going twice, sold to the woman in red! That’s right. The Annual Gala and Auction for the 2023 Boys and Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula took place this past Saturday, and the event was thrilling!

This year’s theme was The Greatest Adventure. Some individuals were dressed to the nines and others were suited up in their finest Indiana Jones gear.

Some of the sponsors at this year’s event included the Hilcorp Energy Company, Marathon Petroleum, J&R Alaska Fish Sales, and almost twenty others.

But despite the outfits and the sponsors, there was one thing in common among everyone. They were ready to bid, and they were more eager to buy.

According to Mayor Peter Micciche, this event was created to help raise money for the Boys and Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula. There were silent auctions, live bidding, split the pot and games to get the whole crowd excited to help raise money for the club.

Speaking of the amount of money raised, they’re still working to find out the grand total!  The item that went for the most amount of money actually wasn’t a physical item at all. It was the Sponsor a Kid event. The highest pledge was $38,000 with raising $70,000 in this category alone.

“[It] doesn’t result in something you can bring home, which is the peace of mind that you are helping to create a future for a kid on the Kenai,” said Micciche.

Overall, Micciche is pleased with how successful this year’s. Bella was, and he’s grateful for how this helps the Boys and Girls Club.

“Our hearts go out to most of the attendees that really showed up big and spent a lot of money having a good time to support the children of the Kenai Peninsula,” said Micciche.
