The annual Kenai Peninsula Job Fair saw about 600 qualified attendees according to coordinator Jackie Garcia.

Garcia: “The vendors, after talking to them, they are very happy with the choice of people that have come through and the applications and the resumes. People are coming here ready to find jobs.”

Garcia said that although the oil and medical fields are always popular, this year seemed to have a pretty even spread of applicants to all the vendors.

Jennifer Woolsey, human resources representative with Peak Oilfield Services, said that they are pleased with what they saw today.

Woolsey: “We’ve gotten a good mix, there’s a lot of kids that are coming out of high school looking for a good start and we definitely have room for that and then there’s been some that are qualified. They’ve been working in the oil field for a while and are looking for a new spot to be.”

Amber Barnett who recently relocated to Kenai from Anchorage said she was interested in the medical field and it was helpful.

Barnett: “It was interesting, I found a lot of things that I didn’t know was here.”
