Annual St. Jude Fundraiser Coming Up

A preview of the annual fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Hospital will be given at the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce Luncheon tomorrow, April 14.

Robyn Sullens said the aim is to find a cure for children’s cancer so one day the hospital won’t be needed.

Sullens: “We’re going to be doing a presentation for anyone that is supportive of St. Jude can come and share their feedback, or anyone that may not be familiar with it, that’s really what it’s all about. We’re trying to raise money and awareness so that we can get as much funds as we can to St. Jude so that one day their hope is, our hope is, they’ll be able to close the doors.”

She said community members have questioned why the annual event funds an out of state hospital.

Sullens: “When St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital comes up with the research and the cures, they send it out on blast so that all the doctor’s can use that information. So they’re doing the science, they’re doing the research and then sharing it freely and willingly with all the other hospitals that are also trying to cure childhood cancer.”

That chamber luncheon will be at noon on Tuesday at Froso’s in Soldotna.

Those interested in eating lunch may RSVP at 262-9814 by 5 pm this evening.

The annual KWHQ Country Cares for St. Jude Kids Radiothon will be April 16 & 17th on 100.1 FM.
