The deadline to file candidacy to run for public office is today. Division of Elections Director Gail Fenumiai detailed who all that applies to.
Fenumiai: “The deadline today is the candidacy filing deadline for anybody who is interested in running for state office on the August 19, 2014, primary election ballot, or anybody who wants to file as a no party candidate for the general election, today the deadline is 5pm.”
She said that this morning was quiet in the office however the afternoon was getting busier.
Fenumiai: “It looks like for District 29, Representative Chenault has refiled and then there’s a Rocky Knudsen from Nikiski, from District 30, Representative Kurt Olson and then Shawna Thornton have filed and then Paul Seaton has filed for house district 31.
Fenumiai said as of around 3pm Senator Peter Micciche had no opponents for his seat.
