APOC Rejects Complaints Against BOF

The Alaska Public Offices Commission received and rejected 14 complaints that were filed in regards against actions at Board of Fisheries meetings.

 

Those complaints were filed September 10 and claimed that during the years of 2011 and 2014, seven individuals from the Mat-Su Borough failed to follow state regulations about lobbying disclosures.

 

Local retired Fish and Game Biologist Jeff Fox helped fishermen file the reports.

 

He said he’s been watching APOC’s handling of recent complaints and thinks there are too many regulation loopholes being used.

Fox: “They were rejected because board of fish is an open meeting and these people were not expressly lobbing because it was an open meet. Well the legislature is an open meeting also but its not meeting constantly what about the other hours that these people were lobbying. Lobbying is only if your expenses or if your expressively saying your a lobbyist, are you a lobbyist.”  

 

This latest rejection comes after APOC received over 200 complaints in regards to the Kenai River Classic and only accepted three.
