Area Golf Courses Update Spring Status

Author: Coach Dan Gensel |

Golf may be the ideal social distancing outdoor activity, may golfers preferring to be more than six feet away from each other when the swing isn’t quite locked -in.

Updates from the central peninsula’s public golf courses point towards an early golf season on the Kenai.

Birch Ridge Golf Course

The Birch Ridge Golf Course experienced an outstanding opening weekend, both weather and golf wise.  Birch Ridge conditions are improving; however, golf carts are still not allowed on the course.

Birch Ridge will be transitioning the foam noodles to be under the lip of the cup about 1 to 1.5 inches, so the golf ball can fall into the cup and be retrieved easily with a putter. There will still be no need to make contact with the cup or flag.

Course Hours:

Current hours through May 8th, 11 a.m. through 7 p.m.
Beginning May 9th hours increase to 10 a.m. through 7:30 p.m.

Current rates are $15 for 9/18 holes through May 10th. Starting May 11th will be on regular rates for the summer.  Season passes and punch cards are 10% off until May 15th.

Men’s Night:

The first Men’s Night of the season is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6th at 6 p.m.   The event is capped at 20 people: call in and reserve your name on the tee sheet to ensure your spot.  Keep the social distancing practices in play.
