Area Swimmers Score State Top-Eight Finishes

The 2022 ASAA State Swimming & Diving Championships featured two-days of competition at Bartlett High School highlighting the best high school swimmers and divers in Alaska.  Kenai and SoHi athletes competed in individual events and recorded numerous top-eight finishes.

 

The Seward Boys finished tied for second in the team scoring with 51 points; Service High School topped the team scoring with 118 points.  Seward won the boys 200 Freestyle Relay.

Homer’s Carly Nelson earned the Kenai Peninsula’s two, individual championships with a first-place finish in the girls 100 Butterfly and girls 500M Freestyle.  The Dimond girls with 86 points outdistance Colony for the team championship.

 

Kenai Kardinal Swimming

Boys

Samuel Anderson led the Kardinals in the pool qualifying for the finals in two individual events and as a member of the Kenai 200 Medley Relay.  Samuel, Region III champion in two events, placed 4th in the 100 Backstroke and 5th in the 200 Freestyle.  Kenai’s 220 Medley Relay placed 8th with relay members Samuel Anderson, David Price, Benjamin Merritt, Ethan Berga, Jason Johnson, Brogan Storms, Cavan Swanson  (including alternates).

Girls 

Sierra Hershberger missed the finals placing ninth in the girls 50 Freestyle prelims.

 

Soldotna Swimming & Diving

Girls

Abriella Werner placed fifth overall in the girls 1M Diving with a ten-diver total of 346.25.  Charisma Watkins placed 6th in the girls 100 Butterfly.
