The final week of invitational track meets before the “Big 3” for peninsula track teams, featured the Soldotna Stars at the Anchorage Invitational and Kenai and Nikiski traveling to the Colony Invitational.

Anchorage Invitational

The SoHi girls finished second overall in the 16-team Anchorage Invitational posting 16 top-five finishes.  Daisy Nelson raced to a victory in the 400M and a 2nd in the 200M and 3rd in the 100M.  Brittany Taylor placed 4th in the 400M and 5th in the 100M; and Olivia Hutchings placed third in the 400M.  In the 300M hurdles, Lindsey Wong and Emily Warner placed second and third overall.  The SoHi girls also won the 4X400M Relay.  The SoHi girls place four in the top-8 of the Shot Put, including a tie for 2nd for Annie Quinn and a fourth for Sylvia Tuasaula.  Quinn and Tuasaula finished 2nd and 3rd in the girls Discus.

On the boys side, Dalton Best won the Shot Put and Drew Gibbs placed 4th.  Best also placed second in the Discus.  Sohi won the 4X800M Relay and Aaron Swedburg placed fifth in the 800M run.

Colony Invitational

Kenai and Nikiski competed at Colony with the Kenai boys finishing 3rd and the Kardinal girls 6th in the team scoring.

Tekaiya Rich lead the Kenai girls with a second in the 200M and a fourth in the 100M.  Katie Kilfoyle placed 4th in the 100M Hurdles and 6th in the 300M Hurdles; Brook Satathite placed 5th in both hurdle events.  Julieanne Wilson placed 3rd in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump.

The Kenai boys were lead by Josh Jackman’s: 2nd in Long Jump, 3rd in Triple Jump; 2nd in 100M; 2nd in 400M.  Jarett Wilson placed 3rd in 110M Hurdles and 5th in 300M Hurdles.  John Grossl picked-up a 5th in the Discus and Keenan Orth placed second in the High Jump.

Nikiski’s Luke Johnson placed second in the Shot Put and Ian Johnson, 4th in the discus.  Arianne Parrish placed 5th in the Long Jump and 6th in the Triple Jump.

 

The first of the track season’s “Big 3”, the Kenai Peninsula Borough Track and field Championships is scheduled for Soldotna High School on Saturday, May 14th.

The Region III Track & Field Championships are scheduled for Palmer High on May 20 & 21.

The ASAA State Track & Field Championships are scheduled for Dimond High on May 27 & 28.
