ASAA Board Releases Revised Activities Calendar For Remainder Of 2020-21 School Year

In the Alaska School Activities Association (ASAA) Board of Directors special meeting held on Monday, November 9th in Anchorage, ASAA approved a proposed revised 2020-21 activities calendar to become effective immediately.

 

The effects of the COVID-19 virus in Alaska perpetuated the need for a complete revision of the established schedule and ASAA appointed a calendar committee charged with designing a modified calendar to allow for the completion of the 2020-21 activities seasons.

 

ASAA Activities Calendar: 2020-21 Revised

Sport                                 Start Date/End Date

Wrestling: The wrestling season scheduling decision was postponed until the December ASAA meeting.

Nordic Ski:                            Nov. 16th – Feb. 27th

Division 2 Hockey:             Jan. 4th – Feb. 20th

Division 1 Hockey               Jan. 4- Feb. 27th

1A & 2A Basketball            Jan. 4- April 3

3A & 4A Basketball:          Jan. 11th – March 27th

Winter Cheer                     Jan. 11th – March 27th

Track and Soccer:             March 22nd – May 29th

Baseball and Softball:      March 22nd  – June 5th

Activities                        Start Date/End Date

Solo and Ensemble:          May 7th – 8th

Student Government:      April 30th – May 1st

Esports                                Feb 1- April 30th

 

Additional information from KPBSD Superintendent John O’Brien…

”Unfortunately, with the continued rise of COVID-19 community transmission numbers and current situation happening on the KPB, all middle school skill building practices and all K-12 intramurals and sports activities are cancelled beginning Tuesday, Nov. 10, until further notice. ONE EXCEPTION: The KPBSD final swim meet scheduled for Nov. 14th will be allowed to take place to provide closure to this Fall high school sports season. NOTE: No winter high school sports or activities will be allowed to begin until further notice.”
