ASAP, AK LNG Move Along ‘Symbiotic’ Path

The similarities between the AK LNG and ASAP projects was highlighted this morning at the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation Board of Directors meeting.

“Talk about the two projects: we’ve got so many commonalities, same pad location, proximity to the Prudhoe Bay fields providing gas to Alaskans. But that’s been the intent, to maximize the symbiotic relationship between the two.”

The Directors considered how each project would eventually deliver gas to Alaskans, but appreciated how unified the routes are through most of northern Alaska…

“Dan indicated previously, we have worked with our partners at AK LNG to not duplicate our efforts. So primarily where AK LNG and the partners had a tremendous wealth of information north of Livengood, from Prudhoe Bay to Livengood, AGDC did not. So we elected not to do work there in the hopes of being able to work out an agreement and obtain that information through our partners, and we did that.”

Legislators, like Nikiski’s Speaker Mike Chenault, say they are anxious to hear what direction Governor Bill Walker wants to take on the LNG pipeline proposals.
