Soldotna Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a silver 2006 Dodge Dakota for a speeding violation near milepost 26 of the Kenai Spur Highway on Tuesday night at 11:59 p.m. The driver and passenger were identified as 50-year-old Brian S. Todd of Nikiski and 48-year-old Jennifer D. Flyum of Palmer, according to the online state trooper dispatch.

A subsequent investigation revealed that just prior to being traffic stopped, Todd fatally struck a moose with his vehicle  near milepost 23 of the Kenai Spur Highway near Nikiski Community Park and failed to report it.

Todd was issued a misdemeanor summons for vehicle operator fail to notify state of big game animal killed by vehicle. Flyum was arrested and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial Facility for false information and violating conditions of release as she provided AST a false name and failed to report to Pretrial Enforcement Division Supervision Office on January 24th as ordered by the Palmer Courts.
