AST Involved in Dillingham Shootout

Two suspects in Dillingham were taken into custody Wednesday after they attempted to elude Dillingham Police and an Alaska State Troopers discharged his gun at their car.

 

On November 16, shortly after 1834 hours, Dillingham Police Department requested that Alaska State Troopers assist with a vehicle eluding officers.

 

During the incident, the driver accelerated toward a trooper that was standing outside his patrol car, at which time the trooper discharged their firearm at the oncoming vehicle.

 

Ultimately the suspect driver, along with the sole passenger, of the vehicle was taken into custody by Dillingham Police Department.

 

A trooper involved in the incident was transported to the Dillingham hospital where they were evaluated for minor injuries. No one was injured by gunfire during the incident.

 

The Alaska Bureau of Investigation will be assuming the investigation into the officer involved shooting.

 

The Dillingham Police Department will be retaining case responsibility for the original eluding and criminal cases against the driver and passenger.

 

The names of the troopers involved will be released after 72 hours, per department policy.
