The Alaska State Troopers made 26 arrests of people with warrants related to family violence statewide as part of a one-day sweep in collaboration with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
On October 21, more than 40 Troopers, Marshals, and Court Services Officers took part in the statewide detail for the first time.
Arrests were attempted in every detachment across the state. There were 147* warrant service attempts with a total of 26* arrests made.
Individual numbers for the Kenai Peninsula were not immediately available.
This is not only Alaska State Troopers’ first year participating, but the first year law enforcement agencies from Alaska joined the SWEEP.
2015 marked the 13th year for the nationwide Family Violence Warrant SWEEP.
The SWEEP is a day-long event in which law enforcement agencies across the United States attempt to serve outstanding family-violence warrants.
In the last 12 years, a total of 55,099 warrant service attempts were made and 11,701 warrants were served.
In 2014, 249 agencies from 26 states participated in the SWEEP resulting in 3,700 attempts to serve arrest warrants and 999 arrests made.
