Statewide the Alaska State Troopers have been having a difficult time with recruitment and retention.
Captain Andy Greenstreet of the Soldotna Trooper Branch said Soldotna numbers are doing ok.
If the current Anchor Point vacancy is filled, all openings for the Troopers across the Soldotna Post will be filled for the first time in years.
Captain Greenstreet said that it is one of his personal goals to fill the staff out in Anchor Point and be able to cover 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, versus having troopers on call.
