Kenai, Soldotna, Kachemak City Offering Housing Relief Grants, Online Applications

While KSRM reported on the Kenai Peninsula Borough’s housing relief program for those living in unincorporated parts of the borough, three major municipalities are also offering relief options with online applications. Grants aim to help pay for housing for the months of September, October, November, and December of this year.
Kenai Accepts Grant For Firefighting Tools

The Kenai Fire Department applied for a $5,000 grant through the Marathon Petroleum Foundation to purchase a portable ground monitor, and the grant was awarded. The City Council decided to accept the money and utilize it.
Kenai Peninsula Borough Launches Housing Relief Program

Applicants must reside in the Kenai Peninsula Borough, outside the city limits of Homer, Kachemak City, Kenai, Seldovia, Seward, and Soldotna. Qualified applicants will be eligible to receive up to $1,200 for the months of September, October, November and December of this year. Payments will go directly to the lender or landlord, not to the applicant.
KPBSD Extends Remote Learning Through October 30 For Central & Southern Peninsula

That includes 17 schools on the Central Peninsula, not including Cooper Landing. It also includes 13 schools in the Southern Peninsula. Schools will be in-touch with families, and parents are able to contact schools for school-specific information.
Kenai Library Goes ‘Fine-Free,’ Still Charging For Lost Items

Katja Wolfe, Director of the Kenai Community Library cited data showing that fines do not act as a deterrent for patrons keeping items late. She also said that she does not believe patrons who are late in returning books are irresponsible, as it typically is a matter of inconvenience.
Kenai City Council Election Results Certified

The Kenai City Council officially certified their election results, where the only change was the election of Teea Winger into the Council. This occurred during the Wednesday evening meeting.
Kenai / Soldotna Joint Chamber Hosts Forum Featuring Senator Dan Sullivan & Dr. Al Gross

KSRM was home to a Wednesday joint Kenai / Soldotna Chamber candidate forum featuring the two leading candidates for U.S. Senate: incumbent Republican Dan Sullivan and Independent Dr. Al Gross.
KPBSD Extends Remote Learning For Central Peninsula Schools

Remote Learning in the Central Peninsula has been extended by the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District for an additional week, through Wednesday, October 28. A further determination of a possible additional extension will be made at that time.
Sullivan Announces Support For Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court Confirmation
