The five-year agreement awards up to $300,000 of federal funding and, through collaboration, will support a variety of projects and programs connecting community-led indigenous stewardship, technical knowledge, conservation science and natural resource management of the national forest system and adjacent lands throughout Southeast Alaska.

The City Manager said that changes are made to the website as-needed, and that all current programs are represented on the City of Kenai’s website currently.

Ostrander also confirmed that the design of the facility has begun, and that construction can begin as soon as this month – though the developers have a window of completion until October of 2021.

The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge is Alaska’s most visited national wildlife refuge and provides many opportunities for hunting, fishing, hiking, wildlife observation, camping, river floating, and canoeing.

This year, $200,000 is being allocated for the community of Seward as part of Providence Medical Center’s Partnership Grant application process. The deadline to apply is right around the corner: October 15.

City Manager Paul Ostrander noted that increasing the flow of money for the rental assistance program appears to be more necessary than previously thought.

Chris Gonzalez, Special Agent with the FBI Anchorage Field Office: “I think our Special Agent in Charge said it best when he said that the FBI has primary jurisdiction over election fraud and voter fraud. What we want to do is we want to make sure every American citizen has the right to vote in a fair and honest election.”

With only around 3,500 absentee ballots yet to be counted, Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Charlie Pierce has confidently declared victory in Tuesday’s municipal election. He received 5,777 votes compared to Linda Farnsworth-Hutchings’ 3,531 votes. At around 59% of the votes counted going towards Mayor Pierce, only a major statistical shift in the absentee ballots could impact that result.

Those furloughs could become permanent, if the employees are not recalled by October 15.
