We’ve got a full list of polling locations for the Municipal Election on Tuesday, October 6.

Food box availability began on October 5th at three pickup locations in Soldotna. The boxes are set to be provided free-of-charge to any household in need. The Food Bank noted on social media that more people can benefit if those in-need choose one only pickup location per week.

Anchorage and Fairbanks were the hardest hit areas, with 116 cases in the Municipality of Anchorage and 55 in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. Two cases were reported in the Kenai Peninsula Borough.

The City of Seward’s Public Works Crews worked around the clock to mitigate the buildup of outfall from the Lowell Canyon Tunnel. Sunday afternoon, water flowing out of the tunnel was traveling at 300 cubic feet per second, but has reached as high as 400 ft3/second in the last 24 hours.

The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge announced this week that they are offering personal use firewood collection, by permit. Permits went into effect on October 1 and will expire on March 31, 2021.

From October to May each year, the landfill will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Saturday.

It’s time to recycle those old TVs, cell phones, game consoles, computers, vaccum cleaners, and other pieces of electronics that are taking up space. Items that are not accepted are VHS tapes, CDs, exit signs, and smoke detectors.
