This event is exclusively for City of Kenai businesses. The aim is to have fun and educate the community about the different businesses of Kenai. The Chamber’s advice is to use the scarecrows to tell a story about what your business does, particularly for Kenai.

As of the release of the Emergency Order, five bulls had been taken in this hunt and with hunters remaining in the field. This prompted the Department of Fish and Game to determine that no further harvest is warranted from this population.

Voting rights advocates with several organizations will hold arguments on Thursday regarding a lawsuit filed earlier this month. The suit, Arctic Village Council v. Meyer, challenges an absentee ballot witness requirement that the plaintiffs claim puts Alaskans at an increased risk of COVID-19.

The Cities of Soldotna and Kenai will hold a joint Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Wednesday, featuring guest-speaker Mike Heatwole who will be representing The Pebble Project.

In 2020, Alaska Communications received dozens of nominations for outstanding youth that are making a difference in their local communities. A committee had the task of narrowing that down to five heroes from the community at large and one hero from the Alaska Communications’ Employee Program. Rosalie Cortes, Asya Gipson, Joy Martin, Trevor Morgan, Zoe Nelles, and Ted Tedrick were this year’s winners.

James Baisden, District 30 Candidate for the Alaska House of Representatives is currently listed on the general election ballots as a petition nominee. His party registration, Republican, is not listed, leaving voters looking at a ballot to be unaware of his registration.

Seward Elementary has made the transition to 100% remote learning on Monday and Tuesday, pending further updates, following the discovery of two positive COVID-19 cases within the school within three days.

The Kenai Peninsula saw six reported cases in Saturday and Sunday’s update. Three were residents in Seward, two in Kenai and one was reported in Soldotna.
