Correspondence from Soldotna High noted that on September 22, they learned of a positive case of COVID-19 in the school. However, staff and students were advised to not stay home, but to follow the good practice of regularly monitoring for symptoms of COVID-19.

The program’s aim is to provide additional money for families to buy food, making up for food expenditures due to COVID-19 related school closures during March, April, and May of the 2019-2020 school year.

If approved, Emergency Ordinance 2020-023 would direct additional funds to business that have continued to experience financial hardship due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. The ordinance aims to offer priority to applicants whose businesses have experienced a decrease in total sales in 2020, compared to the same period in 2019.

While the numbers of COVID-19 being low has fortunately allowed students to attend classes in-school, a safety net of substitutes must still be established to allow for staff showing symptoms to be able to stay home without putting a strain on each school.

A letter, obtained by KSRM-AM, was sent to some Alaskans from Galvin where she made her case to earn votes in the general election, focusing two of the five paragraphs to being an “independent.” The bottom of the letter says that it had been paid for by the Alaska Democratic Party, despite Galvin’s claims of being an independent candidate.

This is a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Booz is one of approximately 22 U.S. citizens who will travel to ten countries around the world in spring 2021 on the Fulbright DA Program.

The Pacific Northwest Region SBDC Excellence and Innovation Award went to Cliff Cochran, Director of the Kenai Peninsula’s Center in Soldotna. The SBA’s release states: “Last year, wildfires closed highways and forced many local businesses to temporarily shut their doors. Soldotna SBDC Director Cliff Cochran was instrumental in economic recovery for small businesses on the peninsula.”

Murkowski said: “For weeks, I have stated that I would not support taking up a potential Supreme Court vacancy this close to the election. Sadly, what was then a hypothetical is now our reality, but my position has not changed.”

Lessa Peter, the Salvation Army Alaska Division’s Communications Director, told KSRM News: “All of our communities that have a Salvation Army corps, we have created an online digital red kettle. So, for the Kenai area, we have KenaiRedKettle.org – that’s where anybody can go to donate towards the Rescue Christmas effort that the Salvation Army has.”
