A joint Kenai and Soldotna Chamber luncheon housed a debate between two candidates for Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor, Linda Farnsworth-Hutchings and incumbent Charlie Pierce.
In a release from the City of Kenai, the event is billed “The World’s Most Responsible Fishing Tournament.” The Kenai Silver Salmon Derby is celebrated as a new kind of fishing tournament that reduces selective fishing practices that lead to catch-and-release injuries which compromise the health of the silver salmon population in the Kenai River.

During the traffic stop, Cable, the passenger, placed controlled substances in his mouth and ate them. Troopers attempted to place Cable into handcuffs and he attempted to escape the traffic stop in order to run. Cable kicked Troopers several times during the escape attempt. He then tried to push past Holmes and troopers during the arrest attempt.
The crash involved a red and and black 250cc Can-Am four-wheeler. Upon arrival, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as Jacob Bellinger, age 33, of Sterling.

Shannon McCarthy of the Alaska Department of Transportation has details: “Right now, we have a lot of clearing and geotechincal work going on. Our clearing crews are working on it – they’ve cleared about 95 acres out of the 140 planned acres of clearing. They’re working west from Juneau Creek. We also have a drilling crew working in the area.”
