There will also be themes involving topics such as social inclusion, tourism, and entrepreneurship. Activities will focus on building students’ knowledge and skill levels in these areas.

KPBSD Returning Students Required Forms Are Online

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is aiming to make setting up the return to school easy for students and parents. In a Friday message sent to families across the area, they announced that the Returning Student Update Forms online portal is now open. The aim is to streamline the annual required paperwork.

Alaska Wild Salmon Day Coming Monday

The fifth annual Alaska Wild Salmon Day is Monday, August 10. The day was officially declared Alaska Wild Salmon Day in 2016 when Alaska Governor Bill Walker signed HB 128 into law at the 2016 Juneau Maritime Festival, an annual event that pays homage to Juneau’s rich fishing industry.

Mystery Creek Access Road Opening Next Week

The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge will open the Mystery Creek Access Road, and a portion of the Alaska Pipeline Company’s right-of way corridor by 11:59 p.m. on August 14. This seasonal opening is delayed by 4 days this year to allow for completion of ongoing construction and repairs to the Enstar natural gas pipeline.

Kenai City Council Appropriates Funds For Capital Projects

The Kenai City Council passed financial appropriations for capital projects that were up for a public hearing during Wednesday night’s council meeting. Ordinance 3146-2020 approves planned funding of capital projects deferred to Fiscal Year 2021 because of financial uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 public health emergency.

KPBSD Details Student Meal Eligibility And Availability

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District announced in a press release on Wednesday that they will provide meals to students who attend school onsite, as well as to students who opt for 100% remote learning with their KPBSD school. They are also presenting an online application for Free and Reduced Meals to determine benefits and qualify communities for federal funds.
