Kenai Police officers responded to a local apartment complex located near Forest Drive for a report of a wanted subject on Wednesday evening at 6:56 p.m. An officer contacted the wanted subject, and as a result, Jaycee Hermann was arrested for his Soldotna Trooper warrant following a Tuesday morning incident.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District noted on Thursday that one size does not fit everyone when it comes to returning to school buildings for the August 24 return to schools, given the unprecedented challenges presented by COVID-19. The district aims to help families choose the best option to utilize when returning to schools.

The Alaska Department of Transportation provided a broad update on Wednesday to discuss each major road project throughout the state. The Kenai Peninsula is home to a great deal of development, both short-term and long-term.

The resolution does not formally approve any particular expenditure, rather, it establishes a plan that lays groundwork that will go before the council, one project at a time.

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game announced in a late-Wednesday release that they are closing sport fishing for king salmon on the Kenai River and in marine waters of Cook Inlet, north of Bluff Point. They are also closing all commercial set net fisheries on the east side of Upper Cook Inlet effective 12:01 a.m.., Friday, July 24.

96 employees at the Seward processing facility have tested positive for COVID-19. As part of OBI’s Community and Workforce Protective Plan, all employees coming from outside Alaska were tested prior to arrival and twice while in quarantine before being released into the workforce.
