Legislation aimed at permanently funding the Land and Water Conservation Fund will face the U.S. House of Representatives today for a vote. The legislation passed in the Senate with a bi-partisan vote of 73-25, and if it passes the House, President Trump will likely sign it into law.

Tsunami sirens wailed in Homer and Kodiak while emergency notifications woke up Alaskans for hundreds of miles, including the central Kenai Peninsula, following an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.8 late Tuesday night.
Last week, the Pebble Partnership claimed in a release that this final EIS will demonstrate why they believe the controversial project can be done without harm to the Bristol Bay fishery. Pebble’s confidence is at odds with the Bristol Bay Native Corporation, which has shown a consistent message of concern about the risks posed by the mine.

The City of Soldotna will discuss a resolution to adopt the city’s five-year capital plan for fiscal years 2021 through 2025. The five-year plan is intended to present a projection of capital needs with consideration given to project scheduling, as well as fiscal and manpower constraints.

The man was transported via small boat to shore from the 42-foot commercial fishing vessel Rubicon. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew further transported the man safely to awaiting emergency medical services in Kodiak.
State Troopers received a report of a robbery from a convenience store early Tuesday morning at 12:32 a.m. The complainant then said that he was able to recover the safe that was stolen.

A virtual town hall is being hosted to discuss the options for how to vote safely in the State of Alaska.
