Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Denali

A Cessna 180 with two passengers conducted an emergency landing on Thursday, July 2, landing southest of the Eielson Visitor Center in the Denali National Park and Preserve. The passengers were able to communicate with the Alaska Regional Communications Center via their satellite device. The passengers communicated that there were no injuries, and that they had equipment, food, and water to last several days.   

AMHS Passenger Tests Positive For COVID-19

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services conducted extensive contact tracing and determined that the only other person considered to be a close contact was a traveling companion. No one else aboard the vessel was found to have been in close contact with the passenger who tested positive.

One New COVID-19 Death Over Holiday Weekend

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported one new death related to COVID-19 and 75 new positive COVID-19 cases among residents during the combined numbers released on Saturday and Sunday. Two of the cases came from Seward and one was from Soldotna. The majority of the counts, 54, came from Anchorage.
