The deadline for Kenai small businesses and nonprofits to apply for City of Kenai Relief and Recovery Grants will hit this Friday, June 19.
The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services announced three new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. One of the cases is in Soldotna. Among the other cases, one is in Anchorage and one in Wasilla. This brings the total number of Alaska cases to 664.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing amending its refuge-specific regulations on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge to allow State-regulated trapping, harvest of brown bears over bait, discharge of firearms along the Kenai and Russian Rivers during certain times of the year, among other changes.
Subsistence rod-and-reel fishing for king salmon in the Kenai River will be closed effective Monday, June 15, through Wednesday, July 15. The closure is due to low numbers from the early salmon run, according to a release from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
