Three New Kenai Peninsula COVID-19 Cases

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 17 new positive COVID-19 cases in their Thursday update, including three in the Kenai Peninsula Borough. Two cases are in Homer and one from an area of the Kenai Peninsula with fewer than 1,000 residents.

DHSS Announces Free Diabetes Prevention Program

Alaska adults can prevent diabetes by participating in a new, free telephone program. Alaska’s Diabetes Prevention and Control Program is making diabetes prevention easier by providing a free program for Alaska adults with pre-diabetes who want to prevent developing diabetes and stay healthy.

July 4th Parade Cancelled In Kenai

The 2020 parade celebrating Independence Day, along with associated festivities, has been cancelled in the city of Kenai.  The announcement was made in an e-mail from the Kenai Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Staff, in conjunction with the City of Kenai.

Red Cross Offering Virtual Support For Families

The American Red Cross recently launched a Virtual Family Assistance Center to support families struggling with loss and grief due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Center is a support hub with special virtual programs, information, referrals, and services to support families in-need across Alaska.
