The City of Soldotna is excited to welcome visitors back to area parks, but they are making a few changes this Summer. Centennial Campground is scheduled to open Friday, May 22, and Swiftwater Campground will open the following Friday, May 29.

As the school year and graduation ceremonies come to a close, the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is conducting a survey regarding the district’s shift to distance learning in March, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. What worked this spring? Where was there room for improvement? The district wants to know.

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported no new positive COVID-19 cases in their Thursday update. That leaves the total positive case count in the state at 402.

Governor Mike Dunleavy announced the Permanent Fund Dividend Division will begin distribution of the 2020 Permanent Fund Dividend to eligible Alaskans on July 1. The announcement came at the end of a press briefing on Wednesday evening.

The Alaska House and Senate each passed bills Tuesday ratifying plans for the usage of more than $1 billion in federal COVID-19 relief aid, one day after reconvening to take up the issue.
