The Borough Office of Emergency Management provided a recap on the state of testing on the Kenai during a community conversation on Tuesday night. The conversation was held by Dan Nelson, Borough Incident Commander, and Brenda Ahlberg, Information Officer.

Governor Mike Dunleavy held a press briefing on Wednesday, joined by Adam Crum, Commissioner of the Department of Health and Social Services, as well as Dr. Anne Zink, Alaska’s Chief Medical Officer. The purpose of the briefing was to discuss the latest cases of COVID-19 in Alaska and providing updates on how the administration is reopening Alaska’s economy “responsibly.”

The Alaska Salmon Alliance (ASA) has hired Robert Ruffner to assist Peninsula Communities response to the upcoming salmon season and adapting to COVID -19 concerns.

April has been proclaimed Bear Awareness Month in Alaska. The purpose is to encourage all Alaskans to educate themselves regarding safety issues connected with Alaska’s bears, thereby ensuring confident and safe outdoor adventures for all.

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported four new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. The total positive case count, including recovered patients, now stands at 355. Two are from Anchorage and two are from Eagle River.

The City of Soldotna seeks to partner with local business owners to share the cost of establishing or improving an existing business website, as well as any integrated social media and marketing programs, to increase their online presence.

Due to longer days and warming temperatures, Denali National Park and Preserve (Denali) has determined that there is no longer adequate snow cover for the use of snow machines for traditional activities in the 1980 additions to Denali that are north of the Alaska Range.

Hamilton Construction will resume construction activities on Lowell Point Road on Tuesday, April 28. Work will continue until Thursday, May 7. Periodic traffic delays and road closures with potential delays not in excess of 15 minutes should be anticipated.

The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported six new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. The total positive case count, including recovered patients, now stands at 351.  Three of the cases are from Anchorage, one from Petersburg, one from Chugiak, and one from North Pole.
